Become a sponsor of ECC 2009!

Sponsorship Introduction – ECC 2009, Mallorca
This briefing is to introduce potentially interested sponsors to the Engineering Challenge Cup (ECC) and to present the marketing opportunities available to you and your company of becoming involved in the ECC.

ECC Background
In 1994 a group of friends working for engineering contracting companies chartered three yachts and decided to race between their overnight destinations. The winner organised a similar event the next year and that is how the Engineering Challenge Cup (ECC) was born. From this humble beginning, the ECC has grown rapidly to the point when it is now the Mediterranean’s largest privately organised international roving regatta.
In 2009 the fleet will assemble in Palma, Mallorca for the 16th ECC week between the 2nd and the 8th of May.
Each yacht represents a company associated with the engineering industry, and despite its size, it remains an informal amateur event although the organisation has had to become more professional.

Sponsorship Benefits
Positive exposure in front of this community, which includes many senior decision-makers, can greatly enhance your company’s profile and prospects within the engineering and related industries. The event has started to attract media interest from the yachting press, engineering publications and tourist organisations in the host country. As such, it presents an important marketing opportunity where many important and long-term business and personal relationships are built up over the week.
In previous years the event has attracted some excellent sponsors who have provided clothing, services and other goods, which have been very much appreciated by the participants. The sponsors have had their logo displayed on crew clothing, corporate links included in the official ECC website, advertisements printed in the Official ECC logbook, flags flown on the Committee boat and decal stickers displayed on the yachts throughout the week.
These advertising vehicles provide excellent exposure for the companies sponsoring, raising awareness in this community of company brands, and enhancing their profiles by being associated with a friendly competitive sailing event. This year we are also hoping to do a little more by giving those participating an opportunity to be benevolent to a good cause local to where the event is held. Over the years many sponsors have chosen to return and increase their sponsorship year upon year due to the positive impact the event has on their teamwork, their networks, and their businesses.
Sponsors providing accessories or clothing directly will see their company benefit from the marketing exposure for years to come, as sailors participating wear the items following the event amongst a broader audience, and it is common that the best quality items are seen to return on the backs and heads of sailors in subsequent years.
Support by sponsors of the event is highly appreciated by all participants, and my Organising Committee will do our best to assist sponsors in whatever way we can throughout the event.
During the ECC week Articles covering race results and daily news will be made available from the website so tracking of teams may be possible for those not able to participate directly but with an interest in following the friendly racing.

Please feel free to view the ECC archives to obtain a better picture of what the event is like.
